VJ delivers two video outputs (rear + front) and one NDI lighting feed over ethernet. All projector blending, geometry correction, and multi-projector alignment is the responsibility of the local projection team. VJ receives one SDI camera input at FOH for live video feedback effects.

Projection & Display Systems
This show uses two screens (front and rear) with independent content. The VJ delivers one video output per screen. Two stage configurations are supported below.
Config A: Truss-Mounted Screens (Default)
  • 1 × 8.5m × 5m (28' × 16'5") Front Projection frame — box truss on wheels, sharkstooth gauze
  • 1 × 8.5m × 5m (28' × 16'5") Rear Projection frame — box truss on wheels, rear projection screen
  • VJ-driven truss lighting surrounds screens (Section 2)
Config B: LED Wall + Scrim
  • Rear: LED wall, pixel pitch 6mm or smaller (P6, P5, P4, P3, P2.6)
  • Front: Front projection sharkstooth gauze — as large and expansive as possible
  • Front screen maximized for venue, not constrained to truss dimensions
Critical: Front and rear screen aspect ratios MUST be identical. Content is authored for matched surfaces.
Config B (no truss): VJ-driven truss lighting (Section 2) is not required. Only the two HDMI outputs and camera input are needed.

All fixtures face audience. LED battens form a continuous border with subtle gaps. Strobes in each corner. Driven by NDI video feed from VJ at FOH.

Screen-Surround Lighting System

The lighting fixtures surrounding the front screen serve as a visual extension of the projection content. They are driven by a live NDI video feed from the VJ representing the peripheral edge colors of the front projection.

The screen-surround lighting fixtures are driven directly by the VJ's NDI output. They require their own dedicated signal path, independent from the house lighting console.
How It Works
  1. VJ outputs an NDI video stream over ethernet from FOH.
  2. Stream is a frame-shaped image of the border/edge colors of the front projection.
  3. Venue's media server / pixel mapper receives NDI and maps it to the truss-mounted LED fixtures.
  4. Result: lighting seamlessly extends the projected image beyond the screen edges.
VJ provides: NDI video feed labeled "FLYLO_LIGHTING" over ethernet.
Venue provides: Media server, fixtures, mapping, and all patching.

A miniature camera captures Flying Lotus on stage and feeds a live SDI signal to the VJ at FOH for real-time video feedback effects.

Audio Systems

Stereo professional P.A. of suitable size for the venue, flown where necessary, full auditorium coverage including front of stage with infills.

System must produce 110 dBA at mid-house without distortion. We require a substantial amount of sub bass.
